Project Overview:

One of the basic building blocks of designing a website is editing your pictures.  In this unit, you will use a popular Adobe program called Photoshop.  Photoshop is a professional piece of software that is used by photographers and designers all over the world!  You will use Photoshop to create your own tabloid cover.  Put together unlikely, funny, random, and original headlines to go along with digitally altered pictures.  This assignment is one you don't want to miss!

What criteria are being assessed:

Unit Checklist:

  • Download the design folder on Google Classroom and fill out Criterion B.

  • Get Criterion B checked by Knips!  She's looking to make sure you have at least 10 well-written tabloid headline ideas.  You also need to have two ideas that are chosen for a headline with an explanation on how you plan to edit the accompanying pictures.

  • Open Adobe Photoshop and create a new document that is 11 inches wide and 8.5 inches tall.  This will be for print, so the resolution should be higher - 150 pixels/inch will work for this project.

  • Use the pencil or line tool to draw out sections for your stories in a modular design.  These lines should be on one layer that you can hide easily.

  • Put your captions into your individual sections.  What font looks best for your story?  Which story line is most important?  What color should you make your text?

  • Add in pictures to edit.  Not every headline has to have a picture, but you should have one for your 'main event' headline.
